It was really special for me to share my personal journey from East to West with the students from the International Business Faculty of #THM. Inspiring those who, like my younger self, are in similar situations and encouraging them to create their own brilliant life journeys made me feel truly fulfilled❤️Succeeding in a foreign culture wasn’t easy, but always remember to keep your head up, stay #positive, be #true to yourself, and be #kind to others. By doing so, you’ll find where you truly belong. And while climbing (the too many) life’s mountains, don’t forget the most important thing: Enjoy the journey!!😎☀️💃10 years ago, Professor Ben and I sat in the cockpit of a Lufthansa flight named “Giessen.” That magical flight has brought us together again here in Giessen. Thanks, Ben @Benjamin Löhr ! It was a pleasant Gießen flight! ✈️😉

𝗔 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗵𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗳𝘂𝗿𝘁...As ironic as it may sound, there is one big lesson that the Deutsche Bahn teaches us: You can’t control everything on your (life) journey. Sudden stops, diversions, massive delays, and unexpected changes in destination - this is all part of the ride. And it’s not just in travel. In our professional life (a deadline gets pushed), our private life (your child suddenly needs to be picked up early), or in sports (injury throws off your training), things often don’t go as planned. While we can't always control these external factors, we can control how we react and adapt. It’s all about focusing on solutions and embracing the unexpected. And yes, this is a skill you can 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺train in the train. Trust me, it’s not easy when you face a major delay - or worse, the last train of the day is cancelled! But that’s life: things will happen unexpectedly. We can see it as a catastrophe, or embrace it as an adventure that makes life more interesting.Oh, and by the way...the train’s still on time (for now). 😉 #Mindset #Resilience #Adaptability #LifeLessons #DeutscheBahn

📢 Introducing Our Team: The people behind BeCAWelcome everyone! We're excited to introduce you to the talented Pilots who make up our team at BeCAThis week, we'd like to shine a spotlight on Cpt Bert Aerts:I am Bert Aerts, Captain A32F at Brussels Airlines, and flying for 17 years now.I am a BeCA member, working on FT/DT topics, and I am currently also vice-chair of ECA's FTL Working Group.Pilots are only a small segment of the working population: we therefore can only rely on the quality of our protection, rather than quantity. This means: carefully choosing alliances with unions, to complement their authority with BeCA's expertise; build internationally recognised expertise to punch above our weight; and maintain good working relations with stakeholders in our domain ( NCA's, EASA, ...) if we want to weigh in on decisions, we'll need to play it smart, not hard.I initially joined BeCA when the pilot pension got terminated in 2011.Since then, I have remained a member to support the long-term goals of the professional organisation.I pay for BeCA's services today, so the mitigation knowledge is there when a problem pops up tomorrow. As pilots, we prepare our flights according the "plan for the worst, and hope for the best" principle - then why not do the same for your career ?

I would like to extend my gratitude to Matúš Macurák, Koen Karsbergen and Darren Ellis for providing the opportunity to participate in this challenge. The simulation was both highly simplified and remarkably complex, offering a unique and enriching experience. I am incredibly proud of the team for managing to work on this despite other commitments, such as the group project during the first run and the field visit to Doha during the second run. Turning the tables from two consecutive runs with losses to a profit, we managed to finish in the top three at the end of the simulation.Analysing data from competitors and devising our own strategy in terms of network, business model, and pricing allowed for a great deal of learning and growth. The experience was invaluable, and the lessons learned will undoubtedly benefit us in future endeavors.Key takeaways ✅ - You can only stimulate the market so much by offering low fares- Some routes are tough nuts to crack- Low CASK does not equal profitability- Excess capacity and price wars only lead to more losses; price wars are detrimental to the industry as a whole- It is tough to run an airline, it is even tougher to run a profitable airline 🛬 💵 #aviation #airline #airlinesimulation

Sometimes you take a walk and what captures your sight can be captivating that you want to take a video or a picture...like a movie in suspense mode, you just want to know what is happening next. This is similar to the YES #Lufthansa Campaign launched in #NewYork in March. With several lifestyle centre locations be it at the #WorldTradeCentre train station #TheOculus ,be at the street facing digital platforms or the New York innovative subways platforms...Every story started with a "Yes", a sight to see and a story identified down to perfection with different #UniteStates gateway options on display. With two additional gateways to be launched from #Frankfurt to #RaleighDurham and #Minneapolis respectively and a third from #Munich to #Seattle Lufthansa adds more gateways to the United States giving our valued customers more choices, more offers, more flexibility and better schedule convenience further to other services from other #LufthansaGroup major hub carriers from #Zurich #Vienna and #BrusselsThere is no better way to say it but...#SayYesToTheWorld

Cadet Pilot at Cathay Pacific Airways

【Mindsets for my current challenge】Day in and day out, I am now dedicated to elevating myself through the rigorous feedback from a demanding mentor, a challenge that connects to the three years of intense preparation under a similarly strict teacher for my university entrance exams. The experience of meticulously planning and executing a strategic approach for 365 days leading up to the university exams, which led to a triumphant outcome, is now alive and well.Upon graduating, I’ve proactively sought wisdom from hundreds of Cathay Pacific pilots and aviation specialists, which guided me through a three-year plan leading up to the current cadet pilot selection. This plan included a financial strategy for flight training costs, a 1.5-year business goal, and an aviation study plan—all of which I have followed to the letter, just as I did with my university entrance exam preparations.Although I pursued a liberal arts path after studying advanced science subjects in high school, I once thought that my efforts in science were in vain. However, those studies are now proving invaluable to my current aviation studies.Drawing a line…Everything I have done thus far is intrinsically linked to my lifetime goal of ‘the road to be a CX pilot.’With this conviction, I will persevere to the very end!11th May 2024

🛫 A Moment of Inspiration: Lessons from Aviation to Life🛬Yesterday, I had the delightful opportunity to have Patrick Daly visit my office. Conversations with Pat are always a highlight for me, especially because we share a deep passion for aviation. As someone who's ambitiously eyeing to secure a pilot's license before hitting 30, chatting with Pat, who's already achieved this milestone, is both inspiring and enlightening.Pat posed an intriguing question that has since been circling my mind: "What are the three things you never want to run out of when flying?" The expected answers might be altitude and airspeed, but the third, according to him, is "ideas." This notion struck a chord with me. While "ideas" might not be the first answer that comes to mind, for seasoned pilots like Pat, it's undeniably essential. This conversation sparked a reflection on my journey - not just in aviation but across the various roles I juggle: as a realtor, an office assistant at the Clark University School of Management, an MBA student, and, most importantly, as a mother. The importance of never running out of "ideas" resonates beyond the cockpit. It's a vital ingredient for navigating challenges, seizing opportunities, and driving innovation in both our personal and professional lives. As I continue on my diverse paths, I'm reminded that creativity, adaptability, and the courage to explore new horizons are just as crucial as the hard skills we often prioritize. Let's embrace the essence of never running out of "ideas" - it's what keeps us soaring, regardless of where we are or what we're doing.#Aviation #Inspiration #LifeLessons #CareerJourney #MBAStudent #RealtorLife #Motherhood
