BiS Gear Guide for Havoc Demon Hunter
Havoc generally aims for the highest item level pieces available, aiming for as much Critical Strike and then Mastery as possible, withsome deviations depending on build. The only items that tend not tofollow the item level rule is Jewelry, as these have no Agility. Thus, power is weighted more toward ideal secondary stats. Visit ourStats page for more details.

"Simming" Yourself as a Havoc Demon Hunter
Throughout this page and elsewhere in our guide, we regularly refer to theimportance of simming yourself on Raidbots. This is because every character is unique, and each individual gear piece you have access to can change the overall balance andalter what is best right now for you.
While we do offer generic sim charts for Trinkets and offer recommendations, theseare not complete replacements for simming yourself. The only way to truly optimizeyour character to that degree is by making use of the tools available!
If you are new to simming and Raidbots, check out our detailed guide below.

Tier Set Bonus for Havoc Demon Hunter in The War Within Pre-patch
During the War Within pre-patch, the set bonus from Dragonflight Season 4 isstill available and is the Screaming Torchfiend's Brutality. Thisfocuses on Throw Glaive, and confers the following bonuses:
- Demon Hunter Havoc 10.2 Class Set 2pc - Your Blade Dance automaticallycasts Throw Glaive on your primary target for 100% damage, and eachslash has a 50% chance to also Throw Glaive an enemy for 35% damage.
- Demon Hunter Havoc 10.2 Class Set 4pc - The Hunt damage over timeeffect lasts 6 seconds longer, and each time you Throw Glaive, its remaining cooldown is reduced by 2 seconds.
This set locks in a lot of talents to enable it, but it is worth it.Once you have the 4-piece equipped, it requires The Hunt and all supporting Throw Glaive talents to get full value:
- Master of the Glaive / Champion of the Glaive
- Accelerated Blade
- Furious Throws
- Serrated Glaive
- Soulscar
The primary target throw of Throw Glaive will consume a charge todeal full damage, and any glaive sent out by Blade Dance will gain theeffect of talents taken. This means there is no need to rotationally castThrow Glaive with the bonus taken, as the procs will naturally consume chargesfor free when it triggers. It also means you need to plan arounda much lower cooldown on The Hunt in your cycles when using the 4-piece.
As it can be obtained through all 3 different raids, The Great Vault andthe Revival Catalyst, it should be quite easy to acquire the 4-piece bonus. Thebosses within each raid that drop each piece are as follows:
Slot | Vault | Aberrus | Amirdrassil |
---|---|---|---|
Helm | Raszageth | Magmorax | Tindral Sageswift |
Shoulder | Broodkeeper Diurna | Echo of Neltharion | Smolderon |
Chest | Kurog Grimtotem | Zskarn | Nymue |
Gloves | Dathea | Forgotten Experiments | Igira the Cruel |
Legs | Sennarth | Rashok | Larodar |
Omni-Token | Raszageth | Sarkareth | Fyrakk, the Blazing |

Best Crafted items for Havoc Demon Hunter
With Professions, you can craft items with customizable stats in nearlyall slots with up to Item Level 525. This means that for many non-tier slots, Crafteditems are a competitive alternative when gearing or to fill up gaps inyour gearset.
If you want to learn more about the Crafting system in general and potentiallycraft your own items for less Gold, check out our dedicated page below.

Best Havoc Demon Hunter Crafting Order
Crafting OrderCrafting Details
7.1.
Best Crafting Order for Havoc Demon Hunter
This is our general recommendation for the best Crafting Order. Due to the highvalue of Embellishments for Havoc, these come first, followed by the highest valuesingle crafts after. All crafts, unless otherwise stated, use a Draconic Missive of the Peerless wherever possible. Havoc has two separateoptions depending on your preference:
- Life-Bound Belt using Blue Silken Lining,
- Life-Bound Bindings using Blue Silken Lining,
- Signet of Titanic Insight (with Alchemical Flavor Pocket),
- Low Item Level Pieces.
You can also consider crafting a weapon, such as Primal Molten Warglaiveif you do not have one.
Blue Silken Lining is strong enough that it is hard to argue againsteven with the downsides, especially with Havoc's ability to self-sustain. Thishas value both in single-target and AoE, so is the recommended embellishmentpairing in all content.
7.1.
Havoc Demon Hunter Crafting Details
Embellishments either come set on items as standard orcan be added with an optional reagent when crafting the piece. Theseprovide additional bonuses (and in some cases quite large ones) butare limited to two. Due to there being so many options, here wewill look at the options available to Havoc:
- Blue Silken Lining - This is theoreticallythe strongest option, using two of them on any selection of craftedpieces. Thanks to Soul Rending, Havoc can realistically keepit is active outside of extreme circ*mstances.
- Toxic Thorn Footwraps - these deal strongsingle-target damage and are a consideration if you do not wantto worry about Silken Lining uptime.
- Toxified Armor Patch - Due to the above being strong,if you want to invest in the boots rather than Silken Lining dueto the Health threshold, then taking this alongside it is ideal.
- Undulating Sporecloak - Grants Versatilitywhile above 70% (which, thanks to Soul Rending, Havoc has aneasy time doing). Unfortunately, the values across the board on thisitem makes it very low value, and as such not worth the craft.
- Slimy Expulsion Boots* - these should be avoided,as while they deal competitive damage, the downside of losingHaste makes them a weaker choice.
- Elemental Lariat* - still competitive with alternatives, but the extra requirement of sockets means that it is not aseasy to get consistent value from it early in the season.
- Alchemical Flavor Pocket* - this does notrequire an Embellishment slot, and as such, is worth usingto avoid losing your Well Fed buff should you die.
7.1.
Engineering Specialty Pieces
Another specialty item worth looking at, especially for Mythic+,is the Engineering pieces. The Head ( Peripheral Vision Projectors)requires Engineering as your profession, while the Bracers ( Needlessly Complex Wristguards)can be used by anyone and either allow you to use the Tinker: Arclight Vital Correctors giving you access to a Combatres, which can be game-changing. If you are considering these, avoid crafting Life-Bound Bindings as your Embellishment piece.
These items also come entirely with one stat, meaningyou should craft them with the Razor-Sharp Gearfor Critical Strike. Non-engineers should also fit this with a Critical Failure Prevention Unit, while Engineers shoulduse the Calibrated Safety Switch.

Trinkets for Havoc Demon Hunter in The War Within Pre-patch
In The War Within Pre-patch, there are a lot of strong options left over fromSeason 4 that work for Havoc in different situations. Unfortunately, they allcome from raids, so require group content to access.
Trinket | Note |
---|---|
Manic Grieftorch | Deals exceptionally high damage in a quick burst on a 2-minute cooldown, with more frequent uses if allies die. For priority damage, this is unmatched, and is extremely versatile as a tool in both raids and Mythic+. |
Augury of the Primal Flame | Deals extremely high proc damage on critical strikes, splitting betweentargets hit. This is a very volatile effect with a lot of variance in procs, but has extremely high potential alongside being a passive trinket that canpair with the above. |
Elementium Pocket Anvil | While this takes a long time to fully ramp up, it deals significant damageonce it does and is the strongest available option for single-target scenarios. It is less valuable in Mythic+ alongside being sometimes difficult to maintain, but it still provides strong boss damage should you achieve that. |
Ashes of the Embersoul | Provides a massive burst of decaying Agility that aligns with every cast of Metamorphosis. This is easy to play around, and can simply be macrodin for the full benefit. The downside, however does cause a dip in damage, sois mostly for situations where you need to pool damage into a key moment or pullwhich it does very well if played around properly. |
Cataclysmic Signet Brand | Deals extremely high single-target damage but takes up to 3 minutes tofully ramp up. While the backlash damage is quite high, surviving through itis fine and definitely worth it. In Mythic+, on the other hand, the unreliabilityof maintaining it between pulls stop it from being worth using. |
