Frequently asked questions about Hertz
How much does a Hertz rental cost?
Hertz weekly rentals start from $240 per week plus taxes, fees, gas, and other additional charges. A $200 refundable security deposit will also be collected by Hertz when you pick up the car and will be held for each week you rent.
How much is the security deposit for a Hertz rental?
A $200 refundable security deposit is collected and held by Hertz on your credit card or debit card when you pick up the car. The deposit is returned when you stop renting the vehicle and return the car. If you have an outstanding payment on the rental or incur other charges during the rental period, the deposit may be used by Hertz to cover some or all of that amount.
What kind of payment does Hertz accept?
Hertz allows drivers to pay for your rental using a credit or debit card. Prepaid or stored value cards are not accepted. Cards must have available credit or available funds for the estimated amount of rental charges and any additional charges that may be incurred. If you pay with a debit card, a soft credit check will be completed by Hertz at the Hertz branch location.
Does Hertz pick you up?
People who drive using the Uber app and rent a vehicle with Hertz are currently not picked up. Instead, drivers get to choose in advance the date and time to pick up their rental at a nearby Hertz location.
How can I extend my Hertz rental?
You may be eligible to extend your rental up to 3 times, every 7 days. Drivers in Chicago and Seattle will be subject to Hertz auto renew. This means Hertz will automatically extend your rental up to 3 times, every 7 days, unless you return it to the location where you rented it. No matter where you rented your car, every 28 days, Hertz requires drivers to return the vehicle to the rental branch for routine maintenance and to open a new 28-day contract if you wish to keep the car. At that point, Hertz will inspect the car and perform maintenance service if you want to keep the same car, or you can swap out your vehicle if you want a different model. If you don't want to extend your rental, Hertz’s policy allows you to return your rental anytime after you pick it up and pay a prorated fee to Hertz for the days you rented it.
What do I need to rent a car from Hertz?
To qualify to rent a Hertz vehicle, Hertz requires drivers to present a current government-issued driver’s license and valid payment method (debit or credit card) with your own name and enough available credit at the time of rental. An authorization hold will be secured on the credit card provided to cover the estimated rental charges and the $200 refundable security deposit.
How old do I need to be to rent a car from Hertz?
On most retail rentals at corporate locations and participating licensee locations in the US, the minimum age to rent a Hertz vehicle is 21.
What kind of car can I rent with Hertz to drive with Uber?
