If you are wondering what to do with all the leftover turkey from Thanksgiving, this recipe is perfect for you. Before that, however, read below on how to store turkey leftovers safely

Tips to store Thanksgiving Turkey Leftovers

  • Leftover Turkey can be safely stored in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days. You have to separate all the meat from the bones and pack them well in a container or zip lock bag.
  • I divide leftover turkey meat into small batches and store them in the freezer. You can store leftover turkey meat in the freezer for up to 3 months.
  • Pack them into small containers and store them in the freezer. You can use one batch at a time for your other recipes.

Cooked Turkey leftovers can be used to make soups, sandwiches, and in this case as stuffing dumplings. Sometimes I also use them to make fried rice and quesadillas.

I was tired of making the same kind of sandwiches with leftover turkey and was thinking of trying something else for a change. In my freezer, I noticed a packet of dumpling wrappers/skins and at that moment I had the idea to make Turkey dumplings. So I experimented by adding some ingredients to the turkey and it worked.

My main challenge was to figure out how to keep the turkey meat moist. As most of you may be aware of frozen turkey meat, especially the breast portion of the meat is extremely dry. However, I quickly solved this issue by adding more liquid in the form of soy sauce and oil.

  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 onion (small, about 2 tbsps)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp vegetable or sesame oil

Place a spoonful of turkey stuffing in the center of the dumpling wrapper. Apply water to the edge of the wrapper with your finger and fold it, Make sure to press the edges properly. Repeat this process until all of the stuffing has been used up.

I purposely kept the shape of the dumpling simple. You can make fancy and fold it anyway you want. There are tons of tutorials on Youtube that you can check out on how to fold dumplings.
