Hey it’s Friday again. I have been working day and night all week (and looks like I will be working most of the weekend as well) so a little break and a lovely co*cktail are very much in order.
I truly adore the taste of passion fruit. I love them in baking–passionfruit curd is incredible in tarts (note to self:must make some very soon) – but they are even more suited to co*cktails.
This passion fruit martini is elegant and sophisticated and just so, so lovely. I have used fresh passion fruit but you can buy passionfruit purée online to make things easier – especially useful if you plan to serve a few of these babies.
I have made this without the passionfruit liqueur and it is still delicious though it loses some of its punch. Take a look at the recipe card notes for links to these products.
As with all co*cktails, make sure you taste before serving – you might need to adjust your drink. Dip a straw into the shaker and evaluate your Passionfruit Martini.
Fresh passion fruit juice be very sour or quite sweet which will affect the overall flavour. If the co*cktail is too sweet add a little more lemon juice, if it is too sour you can add more sugar syrup.
INGREDIENTS
- Passionfruit liqueur:tryPassoa,Edmond Briottet Fruits de la Passion (Passion Fruit) Liqueur, or Bols Passionfruit liqueur
- Passion fruit purée:I recommendFunkin Proif you plan to make a large number of co*cktails. Note that once opened it needs to be used within 8 days.Monin passion fruit puréeis another option with longer self life (needs to be consumed within 4 weeks) but it’s a bit cloying and thick so so use sparingly!
- Homemade passion fruit syrup or Monin passion fruit syrup(flavoured sugar syrup)
