Is Panama City Beach worth it? ›

Panama City Beach, on Florida's Emerald Coast, is sometimes called “The Spring Break Capital of the World”. Its beautiful beaches, great nightlife, and countless theme parks and arcades make it a great place for a fun break in the sun. It's not just a destination for college kids, either.

Panama City Beach is a hip, young beach town with an active nightlife as well as varied day activities. It overall has a more modern feel and is a great place for those looking for more upscale experiences. Pensacola is an older, established beach community that is home to an extensive air force base.

The West End of Panama City Beach is a quiet stretch of beach with few high rise buildings. Some highlights of the West End include Man in the Sea Museum, Camp Helen State Park, Carousel Supermarket and the Panama City Beach Conservation Park.

It is much more touristy than a lot of the narby beaches, and more crowded as well. It tends to draw a very young and raucous crowd, not what I'd recommend for families or older couples if you're not into a party scene. Tends to be very loud as well, can be a lot of fun but not my idea of a relaxing getaway.

Destin, renowned for its pristine white sands and emerald-green waters, presents a more refined and upscale coastal city. The beaches are a family-friendly atmosphere with an array of water sports and bustling activities. In contrast, Panama City Beach offers both quiet coastline and lively.

With no state income tax, low corporate income tax and a combined sales tax of 7% (state and local) the taxes you'll pay in Panama City Beach are far lower than in many other cities.

December–March usually has around 9 rainy days per month. The summer months, June–September, happen to be the rainiest time of the year.

Summer. Summer is peak season in the area and when condos in Panama City Beach, FL are in high demand. It's the busiest time of year to visit (and the hottest), but there's always something going on in town. Memorial Day and Fourth of July are prime times for celebration and beach-going.

Panama City Beach residents have experienced a ban on booze in March for the last eight years. According to the city's ordinances, alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the beach during the popular spring break month.

Beaches With the Clearest Water in Panama City Beach

Carillon Beach: Known for its pristine emerald waters, Carillon Beach is a hidden gem. Its peaceful surroundings and sugar-white sand make it a picturesque spot for snorkeling or simply enjoying the view.

Scenic Beaches

Above all else, Panama City Beach is known for its gorgeous, white sand beaches. With countless beach homes and condos popping up over the years, there's no lack of space for people to stay in.

Just east of Destin on Hwy 98, Panama City Beach marks the end of the beaches of South Walton. These beaches are widely considered to be the clearest and pure in the country. There is nearly no river runoff in the area and the St. Andrew Bay filters much of the sediment out.

Having a weekend (two to three days) in Panama City will provide you with more time to take in the best activities in the beach town. Perhaps the most famous place in Panama City is Pier Park, so don't miss it. It might not be at the top of your list, but it's worth experiencing during your trip.
